NORMAN, Oklahoma – The University of Oklahoma capped of its inaugural Sooner Basketball Family Weekend Saturday with the Crimson taking on the Cream in the alumni legends game Saturday.
More than 100 former OU basketball players returned to Norman for the weekend's festivities.
About 40 former players were split into two teams for the friendly competition; the Crimson team and the Cream team.
A crowd of more than 2,000 people packed the Lloyd Noble Center to cheer on the OU greats.
Hollis Price, a member of the Sooners 2002 Final Four squad got the scoring going hitting a thee pointer for the first bucket of the game and his scoring didn't stop there. By the first media timeout Price had 11 of his team's 18 points.
Kelley Newton come off the bench and scored three straight three-pointers.
With 10:56 left in the first half, the Cream team led 36-20.
Just before halftime Brent Price fed Longar Longar with an alley-oop pass off the backboard for the slam dunk.
At the break, Crimson was on top 50-39.
The game would come down to the final seconds, when David Godbold hit a three point shot with 1.7 seconds left to force sudden-death overtime.
In the extra time, Nate Erdmann scored Cream's final two points to give the team the 76-74 win.
