STILLWATER, Oklahoma – The preseason honors continue to roll in for the Oklahoma State soccer team.
Goalie AD Franch and defender Melinda Mercado have been named to the 2011 Hermann Trophy Watch List by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
The Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented to the top player in Division I each year.
This is the fifth straight year a Cowgirl has made the preseason watch list for the trophy.
Franch was also named a Preseason All-American by Soccer America, and both players were recently listed among the top 100 college players in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Franch was a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy in 2010.
This year's preseason list features 42 players.
Franch is one shut out away from tying OSU's career record as she has 20 career shutouts in 49 games.
Mercado is a two-time All-Big 12 First Team selection and was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2010.
The Cowgirls begin 2011 regular season play at home against TCU on August 19 at 7 p.m.
