NORMAN, Oklahoma -- A late-night fire has damaged the pool area at Norman's Belmar Golf Club.
Around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, a burglar alarm at the club went off. When police arrived, they saw flames coming from the pool house. Firefighters rushed to the scene and quickly doused the flames.
Fire crews believe the fire started in the pump filter in the pool house. The blaze damaged the building and roof. The club has closed the pool for a few days to make repairs.
Last week, a man walked into Belmar's clubhouse and stole money from the cash register. Police say the two incidents are not related.
