Corps Of Engineers Lakes Mostly Open For Memorial Day Weekend
Many folks will be spending the holiday weekend cleaning up after the recent tornadoes. But if you do decide to spend some family time at an area lake, there are some places you'll want to avoid.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Many folks will be spending the holiday weekend cleaning up after the recent tornadoes. But if you do decide to spend some family time at an area lake, there are some places you'll want to avoid.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District, said district lakes, with a few exceptions are open and in good shape for the Memorial Day Weekend. Exceptions are Canton, Fort Gibson and Tenkiller Lakes.
Canton Lake:
- Canadian and Longdale parks closed. The other parks are open with minor damages but may not have all electrical connections working.
- All boat ramps at Canton have been closed until further notice because of heavy floating debris creating boating hazards.
Fort Gibson Lake:
- Flat Rock – Due to high water, all sites closed and advanced reservations canceled through June 8.
- Blue Bill – All sites closed and advanced reservations canceled through June 8.
- Rocky Point – Park partially opened. Closed sites and canceled reservations on sites 3, 4, 6, 7, 22-28, 36-41, 45-63 through June 8, all other sites are open at this time.
- Taylor Ferry South – Park partially opened. Closed sites and canceled reservations on sites 1-26, 37, 40-49, 53-54, 59, 87, 89-91 through June 8.through June 8, all other sites are open at this time.
- Wildwood – All sites closed and advanced reservation canceled through June 8.
- Damsite – Open at this time, unless we start making large releases and then we may have to close some sites or entire park.
Tenkiller Lake:
- Pettit Bay and Strayhorn Landing are open.
- Limited sites will be open in Snake Creek, Chicken Creek, and Cookson Bend. A lot of the sites will not have electricity.
- The only boat ramp open at this time is the high water ramp at Snake Creek.
The Corps will post current information on the closure and reopening of facilities.
