High Water On Lakes Prompts Closures At Some Oklahoma Parks

OKLAHOMA CITY  -- State parks officials say portions of nine Oklahoma state parks have been closed because of flooding as lakes continue to rise around the state.

The Tulsa World said Saturday that besides Tenkiller State Park closings in lakeside areas, the Army Corps of Engineers also has closed all of their recreation sites on Tenkiller Lake near Gore.

Other closures include all areas at Cherokee Landing State Park; Spavinaw State Park; Snowdale State Park and Cherokee State Park. Lakeside areas at Brushy Lake State Park, camping areas at Bernice State Park, lower end boat ramp and fishing dock at Twin Bridges State Park, and nine holes of Sequoyah Golf Course also are affected.
