OKC Red Cross Offers Free CPR Classes In Honor Of Wounded Congresswoman

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma will offer free CPR and first aid training in honor of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the congresswoman shot in Tucson, Arizona, in January.

Red Cross chapters across the country will hold free classes at more than 100 locations on Saturday, March 19, a day the organization is calling "Save-a-Life Saturday."

"The tragedy in Tucson is a reminder of how important it is for everyone to know first aid and CPR," said Central Oklahoma Chapter CEO Janienne Bella. "As this tragic event unfolded, several bystanders knew these vital skills, which helped save the lives of many victims, including Congresswoman Giffords. This inspired us to offer this training right here in our community."

The Oklahoma City Red Cross Chapter will hold free classes at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. at 601 N.E. 6th Street. Training will last 45 minutes to an hour.
