OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Edmond animal shelter is allowing people to submit bids to adopt a 1-year-old dog that was found tied outside during last week's snowstorm.

Someone left the German Shepard mix outside of the Edmond Animal Shelter when temperatures were at or below zero.

Somehow the dog managed to survive. He has been named Hok'ee, which is the Navajo word for abandoned.

This Friday, anyone interested in adopting him can fill out an application and place a bid.

The highest bidder who qualifies will get to take Hok'ee home on Saturday.

All applications will be evaluated for suitability, as only a person/family who meets, at a minimum, the following criteria will be allowed to adopt him:

  • Must live in a house – not an apartment.
  • Must own the residence, or if the residence is leased, must be able to provide proof from the landlord that pets are allowed.
  • Must have a fenced-in yard (6 ft stockade fence preferred).

For more information call Edmond Animal Welfare at (405) 216-7615.
