OKLAHOMA CITY -- The snowstorms that swept through the metro will mean customers could get an estimated natural gas or electric bill this month.
"Customers could be getting an estimate of 5 to 10 percent. Due to the snow conditions, crews have not been able to read the meters," said Brian Alford, spokesperson with OG&E.
That means some customers could have an estimate that will be too high, others may have an estimate that will be too low but that will be calculated accordingly in the next billing cycle once they get an accurate meter reading.
Alford said 200,000 customers have smart meters, so that information is accessible and the number of estimations will not be as high as they were in the past.
ONG customers could also be seeing some estimated bills.
"A lot of our customers have automated meters so it's not as big of a problem," said Don Sherry, ONG spokesperson. "Customers will notice if their bill is estimated as indicated in the bill, if there is a difference, it will be reconciled."
In Edmond where the city controls most of the utilities, bills will not be estimated because crews were able to access the meters.
