WASHINGTON -- A lot of Democratic candidates are leaning a little bit to the right to try to win over conservative voters, especially since Republicans nationwide are using high unemployment and a lot of negative feelings with the president to come down hard on their Democratic opponents.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jari Askins has put out a new campaign ad in an attempt to separate herself from White House politics. In Oklahoma many voters are actually registered Democrats, and Askins likely is hoping this new campaign commercial will galvanize members of her party.
Other Democratic nominees for governor in other states are having similar problems. In Florida, the Democratic Party this weekend is working on about a hundred different events to try to organize volunteers do a grass-roots effort to try to boost the chances of Democrats running for state offices ahead of the November election.
