OKLAHOMA CITY -- A different, but familiar face has joined Kelly Ogle, Dean Blevins and Gary England on NEWS 9 at 6 and 10.
Amanda Taylor, a NEWS 9 veteran, joined the team after Amy McRee announced she was leaving the anchor desk to start a new chapter in her life. McRee recently married and will move to California.
Taylor will retain her role as co-anchor during NEWS 9 at 5 and as the head of the Consumer Watch Team.
"I am humbled and thrilled to be given such an exciting opportunity," said Taylor. "The past four years with NEWS 9 have been amazing, and I am looking forward to many more where I can continue to serve the people of Oklahoma."
Taylor joined the NEWS 9 family in September of 2006 and has co-anchored NEWS 9 at 5 and started the NEWS 9 Consumer Watch Team.
She previously has anchored in San Antonio, Wichita Falls and Gainesville where she landed the first of many awards. Taylor is an Emmy award-winning reporter and anchor and her federal court testimony helped put an Oklahoma con man behind bars.
Besides being a fierce consumer advocate, she has reported on such events as Hurricane Rita and the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy in Texas. Her work as an anchor and her caring and fair demeanor has made her an esteemed and well respected journalist.
"I am excited to have Amanda join me at the desk," said Kelly Ogle. "The way she has stood up for consumers and held people accountable has shown the way she cares for Oklahomans."
Taylor made her first appearance as the new 6 and 10 p.m. anchor on Monday, September 20.
