OKLAHOMA CITY – A free public pancake breakfast will mark the official beginning of the United Way of Central Oklahoma, the Central Oklahoma Combined Federal Campaign, the State Charitable Campaign, and the Heart of the City Campaign's 2010 fundraising campaigns. The Kickoff event is set for Friday, September 9 from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
United Way Campaign Chairman, Mark Funke, president, Bank of Oklahoma, is set to announce the 2010 United Way fundraising goal; Alan Marcum, Devon Energy will report the Pacesetter Campaign results; and Roger Mitchell, 2010 Loaned Executive Chair, Oklahoma Natural Gas will introduce the new Loaned Executive Class.
The public will see Lt. Governor Jari Askins, City Councilman Gary Marrs, Oklahoma City Public School Superintendent Karl Springer and many more serving the pancakes. The beginning of the program will include the traditional pancake flip-off contest featuring the reigning champion, Rowdy the RedHawk.
The community campaign runs September 9 through November 19, 2010. Dollars raised support 127 programs at 60 Partner Agencies in central Oklahoma. Last year, 50,000 donors pledged more than $20,100,000.
