OKLAHOMA CITY -- For the second time in two months, the federal government has refused to provide assistance to residents who were affected by severe flooding earlier this month.
Governor Brad Henry announced Wednesday that FEMA would not be providing disaster assistance to flood victims in Oklahoma County. The request covered flooding from July 6 through July 12 when Lightning Creek raced over its banks.
Even though FEMA denied assistance, the state is trying to generate other methods of funding.
FEMA denied individual help to those in the metro affected by flooding in June.
