Dive Crews Recover Body of Drowning Victim at Wewoka Lake

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Dive crews found the body of a 27-year-old man who drowned at Wewoka Lake, according to the Wewoka Police Department. Police say the man was trying to swim across the narrow part of the lake on the northwest side.

Witnesses told authorities the man went under water around 7 p.m. and never resurfaced.

His body was recovered at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday. Police say alcohol was probably involved in the accident.

The man's name has not been released.
