MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma – A McLoud man was arrested after police said he had stolen a utility trailer.
According to Midwest City police, 35-year-old Michael Chad Sanders was arrested Thursday night at about 11:45 p.m. at 3108 S. Choctaw Road.
Police said Sanders drove his 2003 Dodge pickup to a business on S. Post Road where Midwest City Police placed a 10-foot decoy utility trailer equipped with a GPS tracking device. When Sanders moved the trailer from its location, an activation signal was sent to an emergency operations center. Sanders was then followed electronically to Choctaw where he was arrested.
"As long as people are stealing utility trailers, we will continue to be proactive in this arena. It is no secret, if you are going to steal trailers in Midwest City this is what could happen to you," said Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes. "I'm sure if you ask a friend, neighbor or relative, someone knows somebody who has been a victim of this type of crime. Not only is it expensive for the victim but continues to run rampant, especially in our current economic times."
Sanders is currently being held in the Midwest City Police Department jail on two counts of Grand Larceny, Possession of CDS/Methamphetamine, Possession of CDS/Morphine, Possession of Paraphernalia, No State Drivers License and No Insurance. His bond is $11,500.00.
