OG&E Crews Continue Recovery Efforts After Hurricane Helene

OG&E crews are actively helping communities in the southeast as they recover from Hurricane Helene. Crews have repaired more than 200 broken power poles in several areas severely impacted by the storm.

Despite these efforts, officials report that there is still considerable work to be done. Crews are working around the clock to restore power to as many residents as possible.

The death toll from the hurricane has risen to over 200, and the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

More than 700,000 residents remain without power as cleanup efforts span from Florida to Virginia.

In North Carolina, a resident was seen shoveling a thick coat of hazardous mud and debris from his home.

"It's everything we had in that house and all the memories we had with our kids," said Ben Phillips, a resident of Marshall.

Hurricane Helene has become the second deadliest storm to hit the U.S. mainland since Hurricane Katrina 19 years ago. The National Weather Service is now monitoring Tropical Storm Milton, which is forecasted to make landfall in Florida next week as a hurricane.
