OKLAHOMA CITY – The State Board of Medicolegal Investigations will meet Saturday to consider hiring a new chief medical examiner.
The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Oklahoma City offices of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The board's agenda states the board will discuss and possibly act on the employment of a new chief medical examiner.
"The board feels like we are in an urgent situation which is why we decided to bump up our regular board meeting," Spokeswoman Cherokee Ballard said. "As far as candidates for the position, a couple of names have been tossed around for the position."
The troubled office has been without leadership since chief medical examiner Dr. Collie M. Trant was fired earlier this year and the deputy chief medical examiner, Eric Duval, resigned.
Last week, Chief Administrative Officer Tom Jordan resigned after six months on the job.
