NEW YORK CITY -- A movie shot in several cities in Oklahoma last year, premiered in New York City Tuesday night at the Tribeca Film Festival.

"The Killer Inside Me" stars actors Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba and Casey Affleck. The film is based on a novel by pulp writer Jim Thompson.

The film tells the story of Lou Ford, an unassuming small town sheriff deputy, as a troubled sociopath struggling to juggle his long-term girlfriend, a prostitute, and his own violent and masochistic instincts.

The film is set in the 1950's in an idyllic west Texas town.

At the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, it was criticized by certain audiences as being "gratuitously" violent.

Scenes for the movie were shot in Cordell, Enid, Guthrie, Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

The film has a limited release in U.S. theaters beginning June 18.
