OKLAHAOMA CITY -- Last year 6,000 teens died while driving after they were distracted by texts on their cell phones, but now new technology guarantees teens will stop texting behind the wheel.
One phone application simply shuts off the phone's texting capability when the car is moving.
"All of these technologies work off the GPS chip that's in the phone," said John Ulczycki, with the National Safety Council. "When the phone is in a moving vehicle, that software prohibits it from working."
There are several different applications that are available for download. Most cost about $5 a month. However, the applications work only on smart phones, all except the iPhone.
