MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma—GPS technology helped catch an Oklahoma City man accused of stealing a trailer. The trailer was reported taken from a business parking lot at N.E. 10th and Douglas Boulevard Sunday morning.
Larry Williams, 36, was stopped at about 4:16 a.m. at Wilshire and Spencer-Jones road in a 1994 red GMC truck. The truck was towing a 16 foot tandem axle trailer belonging to the Midwest City Police Department. The trailer had a $7,000 GPS system that activates when moved more than three feet.
Investigators have begun to “bait” trailers in order to cut down on the number of trailer thefts. The trailers are distributed throughout the city limits at various locations in an effort to deter thefts.
Williams is currently being held in the Midwest City Police Department jail pending transfer to Oklahoma County Jail. His bond is $6,000.
