Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are being seen along the Gulf Coast today while low pressure is producing showers and thunderstorms through the lower Mississippi River Valley. The scattered shower and thunderstorms activity will spread east into the northern mid-Atlantic states. Some of these storms will be strong to severe with large hail and damaging winds the main threat. Isolated tornadoes will also be possible. High pressure is spreading sunny to partly cloudy through much of the Upper Midwest. Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are being experienced form the northern Sierra Nevada east into the northern and central Rockies. A few storms may be severe in the northern Sierra Nevada with large hail and damaging winds the main threat. It remains dry and hot in the Desert Southwest.
