High pressure is keeping the weather dry through New England today as skies are sunny to partly cloudy. A storm system, spinning over the northern sections of the Midwest, is producing showers from the Upper Midwest east into the central Great lakes. Showers and thunderstorms are rumbling from the Ohio River Valley south through the mid- and lower Mississippi River Valley. Some of these storms will produce heavy rain while a few of them may become severe with large hail and damaging winds. Showers and thunderstorms are also rumbling through the central Plains. Some of these storms are also producing locally heavy rain. Colder air over the northern Rockies is changing the rain to snow showers through the northern Rockies and High Plains. Sunny to partly cloudy skies are being experienced from the California coast east into the southern half of the Rockies.
