MORRISON, Oklahoma - Noble County Sherriff's deputies and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation officers are investigating a homicide involving a 12-year-old and his shot mother.
According to OSBI spokesperson Jessica Brown, the sheriff's office was called Wednesday to the scene of a woman found shot inside her home, 21140 County Road 250. Deputies found 38-year-old Shannon Renfro with a gunshot wound to her stomach. Renfro was taken to Stillwater Medical Center where she later died.
"This is a tragedy that basically just turned our world upside down," the family's Pastor of Hilltop Country Church, Russell Hughes, said. "Shannon was a lady that just was full of energy, she never met a stranger; people liked her," Hughes said.
After an investigation at the scene and information received from the medical examiner's office, OSBI has ruled the shooting a homicide.
"We dotted all of our 'I's, crossed all of our 'T's and at the end of the day we thought this is probably a homicide," Brown said. "Once we had that in our mind we went back and re-interviewed the people who were at home when the shooting happened and we were able to gain the information that led to the arrest of the 12-year-old son."
Renfro's 12-year-old son was taken into custody and transferred to a juvenile facility.
According to the Noble County District Attorney, because the case deals with a juvenile the case has to go to trail within 90 days.
