Residents in Evansville, Indiana are among those suffering the effects of a
wicked winter storm. The freezing rain, sleet and snow caused significant
damage to the area.
In all, five inches of snow and 1-point-25 inches of ice fell in Evansville.
The heavy ice caused tree limbs to break, falling onto homes, cars and power
lines.
Transformers blew frequently, and at least one caused a leak in a natural gas
line. Firefighters also battled fires on power lines in the cold weather.
The conditions were also dangerous for utility crews as they worked to restore
power to thousands of homes and businesses.
