New Mexico crews facing 2nd day of windy weather

MANZANO, N.M. (AP) -- Firefighters in central New Mexico are working to contain a wildfire that has already charred nearly six square miles.

Officials say more crews are in the area and additional air tankers have been ordered to flight a blaze that is 30 percent contained. Crews have been preparing for windy weather, and voluntary evacuations are in effect for two towns southeast of Albuquerque.

The National Weather Service says crews can expect to deal with low humidity and wind at times up to 30 miles-per-hour.

Officials say they urged residents of about 130 homes to leave after the blaze jumped a fire line. But there is still no confirmation that any buildings have burned because crews have not been able get into some areas to check.
