Presidential candidates respond to security breach

The State Department says the passport files of all three major presidential candidates were breached by contract employees or, in one case, a trainee.

"We're sorry that this happened, we're sorry, and that we take it very seriously," State Department Spokesman, Sean McCormack said. "We're going to do a full investigation."

Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, said this morning she'll take steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.

"I myself would be very disturbed if I learned someone had looked into my passport file and therefore I will stay on top of it and get to the bottom of it," Rice said.

Before being notified of unauthorized access into his own records, but aware of the Obama incident, John McCain called for a full investigation.

"If anyone's privacy is breached, then they deserve an apology and a full investigation, and I believe that will take place," McCain said.

McCain was in Paris, meeting with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Barack Obama expressed similar sentiment after a rally in Oregon.

"This is something that has to be investigated diligently and openly," Obama said.

At the rally, Obama won the endorsement of a former rival, New Mexico Governor, Bill Richardson.

"Barack Obama, you're a leader who has shown courage, judgment and wisdom throughout the years," Richardson said. "You understand the security challenges of the 21st century, and you will be an outstanding commander in chief."

Senator Hillary Clinton responded saying she respects Governor Richardson. She also has great endorsers, but in the end it's the voters who will decide which candidate is chosen.
