House fire kills one

Unknowing residents slept through the beginning of a house fire Dec. 8 only to be waken by observant passers by.

The witnesses dialed 911 when they passed by and saw the house aflame near NW 30 and McKinley Avenue.

"When we were going in, we saw one guy and he ran back inside to get some clothes or something, so we chased after him. We were banging on all the doors. They didn't even know there's a fire up there," Josh Bledsoe said.

Hearing that someone was still inside, arriving firefighters searched the burning home to find a man dead.

Investigators are still assessing the scene to determine the fire's origin.
