Two people are in custody after leading officers from multiple agencies on a chase in a stolen vehicle in Garvin County.
According to the Garvin County Sheriff’s office, at about 5:27 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, a Maysville police officer saw a pickup truck reported stolen from Cleveland County. When deputies and the officer went to the truck, the driver took off. That’s when the pursuit began.
The pursuit continued south on Highway 74 to ECR 1610. Elmore City police joined in the pursuit near ECR 1610, nine miles south of Maysville. The stolen vehicle became stuck in a field where both occupants then attempted to run away.
A passenger, later identified as 20-year-old Casandra Lanzarin of Purcell, was quickly apprehended and the male driver, 29-year-old Jesse Soza of Noble, crossed a pond and was last seen running into the woods.
Officers from Pauls Valley, Elmore City, Maysville and a local rancher using his utility vehicle, conducted a 2-hour-long search and located Soza. He was booked into Garvin County jail on numerous felony charges. Authorities said Soza has a lengthy criminal history in Cleveland County. He had been admitted to the Cleveland County Drug Court earlier this year.
Lanzarin was booked into Garvin County jail, facing drug charges after methamphetamine was found during her arrest.
