Hundreds of Oklahoma Army National Guard soldiers got down in the mud Saturday as they worked together to get through a nine-mile course.
More than 470 soldiers participated in the inaugural Thunder Mudder at Camp Gruber, according to the Oklahoma National Guard.
The course had 17 muddy obstacles including a confidence tower, tire flips, an arctic ice slide (a large pit of mud and ice) and an incline wall.
The competition was designed to challenge the soldiers' strength, endurance and ability to work as a team.
The event took 15 months to plan.
