Two Dead At Norman HealthPlex In Apparent Murder-Suicide

A man who Norman Police say gunned down his ex-wife in front of Norman's Regional HealthPlex, Friday afternoon, also wrote a suicide note on Facebook a day earlier. 

Police responded to the scene at the hospital, located near I-35 and Tecumseh Rd., just before 2:30 p.m.

According to reports, the man identified as Darrel East, shot his ex-wife Laura several times then turned the gun on himself. Both were taken into the hospital for treatment, but soon succumbed to their injuries.  

Court record show Laura East filed a restraining order against her ex-husband on June 18th, but stopped it 11 days later.

Police said the East's were at the hospital because a family member was undergoing a medical procedure.

"We don't have all of those details and won't have them for a few days," said Norman Police Captain Tom Easley.

The case remains under investigation.
