All the rain is causing a scary problem just outside the metro. Sinkholes are popping up, and right now police and road crews in Chickasha are on alert.
“Two or three times a week I drive through this intersection,” James Clouse said.
So you can imagine the jarring surprise Clouse got when he was nearly jolted from his vehicle. At first he thought he'd been in an accident.
“I was trying to figure out who hit me,” he said.
He was in an accident alright, but not with another vehicle but with the road.
“The front end of my truck fell through the road and bounced back out and by the time I could get on the brakes and stop the truck, the rear end fell in the hole,” Clouse said.
He called for help and within minutes a tow truck showed up, but instead of pulling his truck out, the road devoured the tow truck, too. “You don't know where the voids are,” Jimmy Johnson of Johnson's Wrecker Service said. “That's all it takes is one big void.”
“My insurance agent is actually down the road, and he walked down, inspected it and just walked off,” Clouse said.
Johnson's Wrecker Service used another tow truck eventually removed both vehicles from the holes.
