It was a beautiful night for Bedlam baseball in Tulsa Friday, but the play on the field was only beautiful for one of the two teams.
Oklahoma State took advantage of a lot of free passes from Oklahoma and took the first game of the weekend series, 9-6 at Tulsa's ONEOK Field.
The Sooners pitching staff handed out eight walks to Cowboys batters, while the OU defense committed two errors, negating a 9-8 advantage in hits for the Sooners.
Jon Perrin picked up the win for the Cowboys, pitching seven strong innings. Jake Elliott took the loss for OU, leaving in the fifth inning after walking six OSU batters.
The Sooners jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but had just a single hit after that start until the eighth inning. Meanwhile, the Cowboys added two runs of their own in the second inning, then three more in the fifth and sixth innings. The Sooners rallied late, and even brought the tying run to the plate twice in the ninth inning. But Oklahoma couldn't capitalize on the opportunities.
The series shifts to Oklahoma City for the last two games of the series. Saturday's first pitch is set for 7 p.m., while Sunday's game will start at 4 p.m.
