Firefighters Contain Grass Fires In Cushing, Shawnee

Firefighters have contained two grass fires Wednesday afternoon in Cushing and Shawnee.

At about 1:15 p.m., crews responded to a grass fire at W. 9th Street and S. Stiles in Cushing. Fire officials say that grass fire is threatening several structures in the area.

Firefighters have contained another grass fire near Shawnee, and are keep an eye on hot spots.

This fire started near the railroad tracks near Highway 9-A and Hardesty Road. Fire officials say the fire burned about 200 acres.
