Friends and family are rallying around a Shawnee man accused of murdering his stepfather.

Joseph Neay was arrested last Friday. Court papers state he confessed and led officers to the murder weapon. Now those close to him are turning to the internet for support.

Friends and family of Joseph Neay created a Facebook support page the day after he was arrested for the murder of his stepfather, which has outraged the stepfather's family.

Mary Conner is mourning the death of her son Marty Lee Jones in Kentucky, while friends and family of his accused killer are praying for him here in Oklahoma.

More than 200 people have either liked or left messages on the Praying for Joseph Neay page. Some are even trying to raise money for his legal defense.

Neay is currently being held without bond in the Pottawatomie County jail for the murder.

Court papers show Neay's mother had recently left Jones, and had filed a police report and victims protective order claiming Jones abused her and threatened to kill her. They also state Neay went to confront Jones, stabbed him, and then tried to burn the body.

Court papers say Neay confessed to the crime, and even led police to the murder weapon, a knife, which he threw in a nearby creek.

Formal charges against Joseph Neay have not yet been filed.

Jones was never arrested or charged on those domestic abuse allegations.
