How about driving across the country on less than 10 gallons of gas? That's exactly what a professor from Tennessee Middle State University is doing.
Cliff Ricketts and his team stopped in Oklahoma City Tuesday afternoon.
"Point two gallons of gas so far, that's what we've used," Ricketts said.
The team left from Savannah, Georgia and is driving to Long Beach, California, a more than 2,500 mile trip.
The car Ricketts is driving is a Toyota Prius that has been converted to run on 95 percent ethanol and batteries. He estimates the vehicle will use 2.2 gallons of gas on the trip.
The team also has two backup cars that run on hydrogen and solar power.
"Hopefully the MIT professors and other people around the world will say if an Ag professor from Tennessee can go coast to coast off 2.2 gallons of gasoline, then surely we can take this to a higher level," Ricketts said.
