OKLAHOMA CITY -- The owners of The Outlet Shoppes have announced 18 more stores will be opening their doors in the shopping center.
Construction on the 65-acre development began in June 2010 at the northeast corner of I-40 and Council Road. It's scheduled to open in August of this year. It's expected to draw more than six million shoppers each year from a three-state area.
"We believe that with this being the only major outlet center in the area, it will draw shoppers from a large area throughout Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas," said Gary J. Skoien, Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Group Properties.
In addition to well-known designer outlets such as Nike, Gap and Banana Republic, Horizon Group Properties announced Friday retailers such as J. Crew, Talbots, Famous Footwear and Bose will join the 348,000 sq. ft. outlet.
The developers of the retail space said the shopping center will create more than 1,000 new jobs and generate more than $100 million in annual sales, which means at least $4 million in new local sales tax revenue for Oklahoma City.
