OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City Public Schools spokesperson said the district will send a letter to parents in all schools following the abduction and sexual assault of a Jefferson Middle School student.
The sixth grader was walking to school Wednesday morning when a man pointed a gun at her, forced her to get in his car, and then sexually assaulted her.
"She said a white male approached her from behind and pointed some type of gun to her head and threatened to kill her if she did not go with him," said Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow.
A police report stated the man told the girl to give him her phone number and address, and if she told any one he would come and kill her. She was dropped off around the corner from the school at a dead end street and was told he would pick her up in the same place or maybe a different one tomorrow (Thursday). The girl went on to school where a teacher could tell something was wrong and called police.
"Apparently an employee of the school noticed she was upset, and she was crying and then started speaking with her and that's when they learned that happened and contacted police," Wardlow said.
A letter has already been sent to Jefferson Middle School parents about the attack. Now the district has decided to send a letter to parents throughout the district and notify them with by phone with an "Alert Now" recording.
The letter from Jefferson Middle School Principal Gloria Torres asked for parents and students' help with any information involving the abduction. The letter also also reminded students not to talk to strangers and seek help immediately if they believe they are in danger.
Investigators have released a sketch of a suspect who is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting the student.
Police said they believe the man is armed with a silver hand gun and was last seen driving a small 4-door silver or dull grey vehicle with tinted windows.
The man is described as a 40-year-old white male, 6' 0" tall, 195 pounds, tan complexion and was last seen wearing a red "Oklahoma" sweat shirt, blue jeans, brown tennis shoes, dark sunglasses, and a red ball cap.
Anyone with information about this crime should call Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.
