One person was taken to the hospital after a small plane went off a runway at Tulsa International Airport around 12:30 p.m Friday.
The pilot of a single-engine Piper Warrior aircraft landed and ran off a runway on the west side of the airport, away from commercial traffic. A witness told News On 6 the pilot was a student on a solo flight, and another pilot was watching the landing from right beside the runway.
That pilot - who ran over to help - could have been a flight instructor. The plane was from a flight school out of Claremore.
The pilot was pulled out and treated on the ground for a while before EMSA took him to the hospital to be checked out.
The plane did not appear to be severely damaged and was cleared off the runway in about an hour.
