Man arrested, accused of first degree murder in Skiatook

A Skiatook man is arrested and accused of first degree murder for shooting his girlfriend over the weekend, police say.

The Skiatook Police Department said officers responded to a 911 call at 9:20 a.m. from Chad Weathers.

When officers arrived, police say Weathers told them he shot his girlfriend Saturday night. When they went inside the home, a body was found next to a gun.

Skiatook Police said Weathers asked for a lawyer before being booked.

Skiatook Police say they are investigating a potential homicide that occurred Sunday morning.

Police responded to a 911 call around 9:20 a.m. where law enforcement was requested. When officials arrived, they found someone dead inside the home, which prompted an immediate homicide investigation according to police.

Chad Weathers was considered a person of interest from preliminary police work authorities say. Weathers was taken into custody in connection with the case but not convicted or charged. Weathers is presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
