The woman who allegedly hit and killed a man Friday night is in jail.
Ronika Nelson, 25, was arrested on suspiscion of first-degree murder in the death of 27-year-old Terry Jones.
Witnesses told police Jones and Nelson had an arguement at the parking lot of 6021 S May Ave. As Nelson drove away from the apartment complex, Jones threw a brick at Nelson's rear car window, police said. Authorities said she retaliated by driving over Jones several times and slammed him against the side of building.
Police Sgt. Daniel Stewart says 27-year-old Jones died at the scene of the incident at about 7 p.m. Friday.
"We do know that the victim threw a brick at the suspect vehicle; the suspect vehicle ran the victim into the building," Stewart said.
Nelson and Jones' relationship had been going through some difficulties and a police report had been filed after Nelson was seen breaking into Jones' apartment the previous night.
Officers later found the suspect vehicle in the 1300 block of SW 74 St. and secured it as evidence. Nelson turned herself into police the following morning.
