Severe Storm Threats And Below Normal Temperatures For The Weekend

Storms aren’t done with Green Country yet, with a bout of severe weather possible as we head into Sunday.

First off, lingering cloud cover will again keep our Saturday temperatures quite pleasant by August standards! We’ll have highs in the low to mid-80s for our Saturday afternoon, with hit-or-miss showers and storms possible.

Our primary concern looks to come Sunday morning, as an intense squall line is expected to take shape across Kansas. This line of storms will barrel southeast into Oklahoma by early Sunday morning, likely impacting at least parts of eastern Oklahoma. Damaging straight-line winds will certainly be possible Sunday morning, along with flash flooding. Be aware and keep an eye to the sky during your Sunday morning plans!

Storm coverage should slowly decrease Sunday afternoon, but in the wake of that complex of storm, we’re again looking at well below normal temperatures with highs only in the 80s!

Much hotter conditions will, unfortunately, return Monday, with highs in the 90s and nasty heat index values back near 110 degrees. But a cold front is on the way Monday night, and that should knock our temperatures back below normal into the 80s for much of next week!
