Montgomery County Sheriff Suspended During Investigation

A Montgomery County, Kansas judge has suspended the sheriff there amid a criminal investigation. Sheriff Bobby Dierks is already charged with obstruction and intimidation of a witness.

The Montgomery County Chronicle reports the case arose from allegations Dierks interfered with the arrest of a girlfriend last year.

Dierks' criminal case is scheduled for later this year.

Undersheriff Richard George has been sworn in temporarily to the position of Montgomery County Sheriff.
