Travis Scott took to the stage in Downtown Tulsa tonight at the BOK Center. It comes about a month after he canceled his show in February, upsetting a lot of fans, some of whom ended up smashing the BOK's glass doors and getting out of hand.
Fans Frustrated After Travis Scott Concert Postponed
That show went off tonight without a hitch. The BOK Center and the Tulsa Police Department said they increased security.
Fans said while they were disappointed last month, tonight's show is worth the wait. After fans learned Travis Scott postponed his concert at the BOK Center last February it left many fans shocked and amped up.
Fans like Gustavo Soto were here in February. He had gotten to the BOK Center hours before.
"We got here like around 1 pm so it was kind of tough and to find out it was going to be canceled," said Gustavo Soto who attended the concert,” said Gustavo Soto who went to the concert tonight.
Soto said he watched as many fans started throwing things at the building, shattering one of the glass doors.
"It was ridiculous it's not that big of a deal, he rescheduled you know and the fact that they were taking it out on the BOK staff and all that I feel like it wasn't necessary," said Soto.
Tulsa Police said some people even tried to get inside. Eventually, Officers had to use pepper balls to break up the crowd.
"It was very immature people throwing like glass bottles and everything, it didn't make a lot of sense to me cause it's not their fault at all, its more probably on the artist," said concertgoer D'trevian Molatch.
Although fans were disappointed, many of them showed up tonight hours before the show.
"I'd say the production is just I think he's above some of the other people in the industry and just the energy he brings to the rap industry as a whole," said concertgoer Zachary Smith.
Ready for a concert that fans said is unlike any other experience.
"The beats and the way he switches up and stuff on it and in one song it can have two or three beat switch ups on it so I mean it's just very versatile in my opinion," said concertgoer Devin Wilkerson.
The BOK Center released a statement tonight that they work with Tulsa Police to make there is ample security for every event.
Here is the BOK Center’s full statement: “BOK Center and Tulsa Police Department work as a team to make sure security needs are adequate for every event, including the re-scheduled Travis Scott show tonight. There will be some added security for the event, but nothing that will be extremely noticeable” said Meghan Blood, Director of Marketing for the BOK Center.
