Tulsa leaders are well represented at Kevin Stitt's inauguration, and they say they look forward to seeing Green Country get additional attention from the governor's office.
They hope the Tulsa-centric administration will focus on the economic development of northeastern Oklahoma. Kevin Stitt, Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell both make their home base in Tulsa.
Tulsa elected officials, law enforcement and other first responder agencies, and chamber of commerce leaders made the trip up the turnpike to see Stitt and other elected officials sworn in.
“We’re blessed to have a significant number of Tulsans in key leadership positions so we’re very bullish on working with him,” said Tulsa Chamber Member Mike Neal
Tulsa County Commissioner Karen Keith had a second-row seat at the inauguration.
"I'm hoping that this is going to be great for Tulsa and Oklahoma," said County Commissioner Karen Keith. "We've got a lot of Tulsans who will be involved in this administration, so I think we need to work together and do everything we can to move this state forward.
As the governor builds his administration he’s reaching for people from home. Former Tulsa Deputy Mayor Michael Junk will serve as Stitt's chief of staff while ex-GOP state Representative Michael Rogers of Broken Arrow will be the next secretary of state.
The returning State Superintendent and new Insurance Commissioner have ties to Tulsa.
“I think the optimism and excitement is contagious between everyone you saw today so I’m excited about the future,” said Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready.
Governor Stitt has events Monday night and Tuesday to continue to the inaugural celebrations and he said to expect soon after to look for a round of executive orders he’s lined up to start what he called the "turnaround".
