Tulsa's IDL Reconstruction Project Closes Section Of Houston Street

A busy downtown Tulsa street is shutting down Monday morning and it'll stay closed for several months.

ODOT says Houston Street near the OSU Medical Center will close in both directions under the IDL, impacting traffic near the hospital.

The closure is part of a new round of IDL construction projects.

A lot of drivers take Houston Street to get to the medical center from the south, especially if they coming in from Riverside Drive.

With the closure, the easiest route to the OSU Medical Center is to take Denver Avenue to the east and come down 11th Street. From the west, go up Southwest Boulevard and loop all the way around to get to the hospital.

Construction crews already have a large part of the south leg of the IDL closed, due to a reconstruction project that's expected to last until early 2020.

The impact on Houston Street, however should wrap up by this summer.
