Tulsa Women In Policing Event Gets Overwhelming Response

The Tulsa Police Department is holding events for women interested in law enforcement.

Any woman aged 18 and over was invited to check out the department's first Women In Policing Day Friday, January 4.

The free event included a physical activity test, a self-defense course, lunch and firearms training at a gun range. Officers say the response was overwhelming.

"Initially when we started doing this I didn't know what kind of response we would get," said Corporal Billy White, TPD.

"We were very fortunate. We actually filled this class to the point where we had to add a second day."

The second Women In Policing Day event is scheduled for February 16.
