A former Broken Arrow parole and probation officer faces multiple sex crimes charges against inmates and co-workers. Those charges have just been filed in Tulsa County.
That former probation officer has bonded out of jail, but we're learning new details about the accusations against him.
According to court documents, Steven Powers worked for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections in their Broken Arrow office from 2015 to 2017. He is facing 10 different counts, including multiple felonies.
This investigation started last year. Prosecutors say Powers engaged in sexual activity with a woman he was supervising who was on probation.
That woman told investigators she submitted to the sexual acts because she was worried by not doing it, it would endanger her probation status. Another victim who was also on parole told investigators Powers sent multiple unsolicited text messages showing his genitals.
Investigators interviewed more people, including a co-worker who alleged she also received inappropriate texts. Powers resigned from his position in August of 2017.
He was arrested this week.
