Storms across eastern Oklahoma have produced likely tornadoes Friday night. The strong storm system brought lightning, heavy rain, hail and damaging winds. The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for Haskell, Muskogee and Pittsburg counties at 8:41 p.m.
The line of severe storms moved through the metro area just after 9 p.m. Lightning caused severe weather delays in the high school football championships being played in Owasso and Tulsa.
At 9:30 p.m., there was a large lowering and power flashes with a tornado potentially on the ground just southeast of Webbers Falls moving northeast, according to Meteorologist Stephen Nehrenz.
A tornado warning was issued in north Tulsa County from Sperry to Skiatook and Collinsville around 9:39 p.m. Storm trackers reported damage from the likely tornado that crossed Interstate 40 near Vian.
The National Weather Service confirmed a large and dangerous tornado three miles southwest of Cookson in Cherokee County.
Cherokee County Emergency Management said there is debris across a lot of roads in the Lake Tenkiller area, including Cookson and Standing Rock. They are urging caution for anyone driving in the area.
Debris and damage from the storms have also been reported in north Tulsa County.
