Tulsans Gather To Learn About The USS Tulsa

Excitement is building over commissioning of the USS Tulsa. Many around Tulsa gathered at the Polo Grill in Utica Square Monday evening to learn more about the city's namesake ship.

It was a chance to support the crew and help raise money to commission the ship with a series of parties and events.

"We want to make sure that when she is launched in the US Navy, she has a grand launch befitting a city that is on the move," said former mayor Kathy Taylor.

The USS Tulsa will be commissioned by the Navy in late 2018 or early 2019.
