The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and Stilwell Police are looking for a man who opened fire on an officer.
The suspected was identified as 46-year-old T.J. Cain.
OSBI said it started around 5:00 morning on September 29, 2017, when officers got reports of a man with a gun near Highway 51 and Highway 59.
Stilwell Police said Cain shot at a house, or at someone, and drove away. They said the spotted a suspect vehicle that matched the description and tried to pull it over but the driver sped away.
A chase began, which weaved through Stilwell, and the county, before Cain crashed, OSBI said.
They said he jumped out of the car and ran. OSBI said an officer chased after Cain and that’s when Cain opened fire. They said an officer returned fire and possibly hit him.
"Keep on the lookout for T.J. Cain. We do have a felony warrant for him, so if they see him or know where he may be, we encourage you to call OSBI or Stilwell Police or Adair County Sheriff's Office," said Dale Fine with OSBI.
Cain managed to get away and law enforcement is still looking for him. They said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Police did recover the vehicle Cain was in, which is being processed.
No one else was hurt.
