The National Weather Service confirmed Hurricane Harvey broke the rainfall record for a single tropical storm, topping nearly 52 inches.
The Woodlands – just north of Houston – got 30-35 inches over the past four days and as the water continues to rise, it’s making it difficult for anyone to get anywhere - the only way to get to many places is by boat.
Many people woke up Tuesday with three to five feet of water inside their house, and volunteers are busy with ongoing rescues.
Most businesses are closed, but a dialysis clinic near the interstate is open, but the employees aren’t able to get there.
They hoped to hitch a ride on a boat but conditions are too dangerous.
They have more than 100 people waiting who desperately need treatment and the dedicated workers are worried about their patients.
"It's happened before, but not to this extent. And, for me, this is my only way to get to the clinic," the employees said. "You don't get out in this weather unless you're worried. We see these people every day, and this is their situation. It's not McDonalds. We can't mess it up."
